"Based on readings from more than 30,000 measuring stations, the data was issued last week without fanfare by the Met Office and the University of East Anglia Climatic Research Unit. It confirms that the rising trend in world temperatures ended in 1997"
So it turns out that Global Warming, such as it was, ended fifteen years ago. About the time the Global Warming scientists started gaining power and millions upon millions of dollars of government research grants.
This would explain why none of the climate models have had any predictive value. It was easy to brush off a year or two as an aberration (it's weather, not climate). But after fifteen years, it was beginning to get pretty suspect. This also goes far in explaining the censorship and suppression revealed in the two Climategates.
UPDATE:
The Himalayas and nearby peaks have lost no ice in past 10 years, study shows
Good news for the 1.4 billion people who live off meltwater from the Himalayas, good news for the world. Further bad news for the global warming crowd. There has been no ice loss in the past 10 years for the Himalaya glaciers.
This was another aspect of Climategate, when the UN report tried to panic the world on ice loss in the Himalayas based on the quote of a scientist who had absolutely no data to support his views.
